About VisionXAiRy
VisionXAiRy is an informal research group that brings together professors, researchers, and PhD students working across Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality, Digital Health, Smart Agriculture, Inclusive Technologies, Digital Twins, and Educational Technology.
Rather than being defined by a single formal institutional structure, VisionXAiRy grows from a shared research culture: people with complementary expertise, collaborating across academic and applied contexts, and using technology to solve real-world problems.
Why VisionXAiRy?
The name VisionXAiRy reflects the spirit and main pillars of the group:
- Vision — for forward-looking thinking, but also for work connected to perception, interaction, and intelligent digital systems.
- X — for eXtended Reality (XR) and for the cross-disciplinary nature of the group.
- Ai — for Artificial Intelligence, including applied machine learning and explainable AI.
- Ry — echoing reality, research, and the ambition to turn ideas into practical, human-centered solutions.
It is also a playful nod to the word “visionary”, which captures how the group approaches research: ambitious in scope, but grounded in real needs and real impact.
What We Do
VisionXAiRy sits at the intersection of people, data, and interactive technology.
Our work spans several connected research areas:
🥽 Human-Centered XR and Serious Games
We explore how Virtual Reality, gamification, and serious games can support therapeutic, educational, and interactive experiences. This includes immersive systems designed not only to engage users, but also to support therapists, clinicians, and other professionals through better interfaces and meaningful data.
🏥 Digital Health and Inclusive Technologies
A major focus of the group is the design of technology that empowers people — from patients and caregivers to users with disabilities and chronic conditions. We are interested in accessibility, adaptive interfaces, self-management support, conversational systems, and digital tools that improve quality of life.
🧠 Artificial Intelligence, Explainability, and Digital Twins
We develop and study intelligent systems that are not only effective, but also understandable and usable in practice. This includes digital twin approaches, explainable AI, data-driven decision support, and adaptive systems that can support both human professionals and end users.
🌿 Smart Agriculture and Sustainable Digital Platforms
The group also explores how multimodal data, AI, and mobile-first platforms can improve decision-making in agriculture and sustainability-oriented ecosystems. This includes work in precision viticulture, monitoring, disease detection, and transparent AI-supported recommendations.
🏭 Digital Transformation Across Sectors
Our interests extend to broader digital transformation challenges in areas such as logistics, mobility, industrial innovation, and future-factory environments — always with an emphasis on human-centered design, usability, and meaningful technological adoption.
📚 Education and Learning Innovation
Technology in education is another important part of the group’s profile, including e-learning, digital pedagogy, blended learning, web-based learning environments, and e-assessment.
Our Approach
VisionXAiRy is applied, collaborative, and interdisciplinary by design.
We do not see research as an isolated exercise. We see it as a process of building bridges:
- between theory and practice,
- between engineering and human needs,
- between research laboratories and real operational settings,
- and between different domains such as health, agriculture, education, and industry.
Because the group is informal, it remains agile. That flexibility allows people with different backgrounds to collaborate naturally, form new project ideas quickly, and connect emerging technologies to concrete challenges.
What Makes the Group Distinct
What unites VisionXAiRy is not just a set of keywords or technologies. It is a common belief:
Technology should adapt to people — not the other way around.
Whether the context is digital health, accessibility, smart agriculture, immersive therapy, or data-driven decision support, the group shares a commitment to designing systems that are:
- intelligent,
- usable,
- transparent,
- inclusive,
- and impactful.
An Evolving Research Identity
VisionXAiRy is still growing and evolving. As an informal group, it reflects the ongoing collaboration of its members and the natural convergence of their research paths.
That is precisely its strength: it is not limited by rigid boundaries. It can connect ideas, people, and projects across domains — while keeping a clear identity around human-centered intelligent systems.
